How to do a detox well : food is medicine for the body, the soul and the mind ...

When we reboot our system we want to do it from the right frame of mind, this is not a starve yourself plan, its about feeding and fueling the body in the right way.

Its building a connection between body and mind and understand how your body reacts to food. It gives you powerful information about your own body and how you can create a eating for life program.

This is finding how your body functions on different types of foods, it gives you the experience of how amazing you body can feel when fed the right things and that my friends give you choices....choices of how to play in this game called life.

So why start with the liver?

The liver processes everything we eat and drink, it filters out the poisonous stuff, otherwise known as toxins : things like alchohol and toxins from food and medication.

The liver does an amazing job of this when it is functioning well.

When its not we can begin to have symptoms in the body including headaches, itchiness in the skin, heartburn , restlessness, rashes and body aches and pains. Detoxifying the liver is a process of beginning with elimination, then reintroduction of foods. We can then shift into introducing

natural herbs and supplements to support that process, but it should be something that you are implementing for the long term, not some short term crazy juicing phase you do for a week, then revert back to crappy eating habits.

For me I began with elimination.

Week 1 :

Eliminated from my diet

- refined carbohydrates

- alcohol

- animal meat (land base not fish)

- dairy

Added to my diet

- more raw vegetables

- 3 juices a day specifically chosen for their detox benefits

- more alkaline water (adding lemon and salt to water)

- herbal teas

So what did my day look like?
